transmission lenght, yoke, driveshaft and rear end questions
just for clarification...
is the 700r4 the exact same lenght as the zf6 6 speed?
and the driveshafts are the exact same lenght as well?
why I ask is i heard differing opinions.
some say the automatic driveshaft is 1 inch longer or shorter, I forget which.
In order to "connect" the 700r4 automatic where the 6 speed once was, is just to swap the yokes correct?
and if I had an automatic drive shaft, with an automatice yoke, it should bolt right in correct?
or
do i need to adapt the automatic yoke on the 6 speed driveshaft?
and conversely...
if i sold the 6 speed yoke to someone that wants to switch from an automatic to a zf6, they could keep their driveshaft and just press in the 6 speed yoke correct???
this could save me from shipping driveshafts if they are all the same....
thanks

The manual driveshaft is shorter because the D44 ( that only came with manuals ) is longer. The rear seal /yoke location on all trans; 4+3 / ZF6 / 4L60 is in the same location relative to the car.Only the length of the diff head varies which obviously changes DS length

Driveshaft length only changes when you change the diff; not the trans
Not nessesary; have to check for yoke bottoming out in trans on account of DS being longer
