IAC Housing Destroyed !!! do i get TPIS housing w/coolant bypass ?
Hi guys,i have a 58mm Holley Throttle Body, today i was trying to get the IAC housing off,bad news, most of the screws cut on the head !!!
and while trying to pull it off one of the coolant hoses broke !!!
Well i don't want to use those passages but ...i found that TPIS is selling a billet housing with 3 bolts that delete the Coolant hoses
from the TB,not sure if this will work with my Holley one,but i assume it will work,Here is a pic below and HERE is the link
Do you think this is a good buy ?
Thanks !
I already installed this sensor there , does it need adjustment ?

The coolant and the air pasages are totally seperate. If your not going to run the coolant through the TB you can reuse your busted IAC housing without having Idle Air Control issues. Feel free to cut the other hose nipple off flush with the housing for a cleaner overall look or you can grind your coolant passage away on the stock housing to look similar to the TPIS one.

screws are steel, in an alum body...expect corrosion...in severe case of corrosion the parts will 'grow together and be difficult to separate...'tap' on casting gently until it comes away.

That's what I did to mine too! Nicely done 86!
Calderone...After you break all the screw heads off, the housing should pull off the (broken) studs. Try spraying a loosening agent around the bases of the studs and remove with vise grips. Then, trim your housing to look like 86's (using a saber saw, hacksaw, etc....). Finish with a file or grinding burr.
Finally, get that friend who polished your SR to hit your housing. You'll think you bought a new one!

Spray them down with PB Blaster. I got mine out with a small set of vise grips. Use stainless allen head replacements with antisieze compound when you ressemble.

Sammy, same thing happened to me.
I drilled the screw heads off, and put in mouse milk and it penetrated the rust, and i was able to remove the water jacket. I had to use a gasket scraper, and tap tap on it to get it loose at the gasket .
after I removed the aluminum piece from the screws, the screws just unscrewed easy except for one.
I used a vice grip to get it to loosen just a bit, and then used the penetrant to get it to loosen up a little bit at a time.
Then it just unscrewed like the rest of them.
