I was unfortunately the taker, decided to drive w/just LT headers and cats, but cop was not buying that I had just done this, even though I was covered in grease.
Your lucky, I know of several area's that will, especially in a residential area.

One muffler shop said i needed delete pipes and another said they would make them and charge me about 150 for everything. Is that about right?
YEs it will be louder without the cats, $150.00 is short money considering they aren't allowed to remove the cats legally. They are welded in so they need to cut them out and bend some pipes. You could get a set of cut outs and uncork the ****er whenver you felt like it right after the cats,

Damn your picky, just thought of something.
Why not take out the resonator, cheap and a lot easier than cats.
I have long tubes, bullit cats and stock cat back, mine is pretty quiet till I get on it. If still not loud after that, then try different mufflers or even muffler eliminators.

I don't have a resonator. I have an x- pipe in its place. I got my Billy Boat tri flo exhaust for free and they will stay there for life. Lol. Idk only thing left Is the cats.

I had the same idea you have right now for my '88. I thought about it long and hard and decided to keep the cats.(I live in Cali though so the emissions here suck) All I did was remove the system from the main cat back....so just the mufflers. Now I don't know if your '94 has the same exhaust set-up but my vette definitely sounds like there is a V-8 under the hood. Other than that I would suggest you go to a local muffler shop and have them bend you like a 3-inch pipe to use as a downturn for the exhaust so you don't heat up the fuel tank. It only cost me $50 and I can put the old mufflers back on for SMOG. Hope this helps with your decision.

A word of advice. "better to be remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

Hey MK42 - You must you like talking down to people like a man who talks down to his wife spewing that ' a word of advice, you are a fool ' BULL****.

Calling people morons and ignorant isnt logical especially when they simply disagree with global warming and the entire SCAM that was hoisted upon the american people by socialists.
And has recently been shown that the same people who pushed it,
have been lying for years since there emails, etc, have been exposed.

I appreciate your military service, I was also in the air force many years, but you sir burned more jet fuel over the skies of this
country than a guy removing his cats. hypocrite.

Im not your wife so save the insults.

A Set of long tube headers with the B&B and an X pipe will after a period of time drive you and others nuts. There is a distinct difference between obnoxious noise and a pleasant loud rasp. Don't expect to carry on a conversation with your passenger.
My X pipe lasted two days before removal. It's one thing for people to hear you coming. Another to have them meet you at the curb ready to go because they heard you coming while still in the house watching tv.
When I drive through a parking lot at the old peoples home, I set off car alarms.
Also, beware of your neighbors. Over a period of time they will hate you with a vicious passion. Especially when you start the car in the early AM or arrive home late at night.
To each his own but beware the consequences.

There's no stupid questions
only stupid answers

If you don't ask, how are you suppose to learn.

We don't want people doing damage to their cars because they were afraid of looking stupid.

well maybe you do...

My guess is that you are under 25.

the air will be just fine if he takes the Cats off. it sounds better anyway. i took mine off, new headers, the works. and i love it. i added about 25 hp by redoing the whole exhaust.
if the emissions are a big deal to you, think about this, the aircraft that you have posted for everyone to see is so freaking environmentally unfriendly its insane. i also am under 25, you sound to be in your 40's.
the point of this forum is for people to ask questions about there car, so they don't **** it up. if you don't have anything to say to help out, then just leave it alone.

I wouldn't trade my chambered catbacks for any system.
Loud- yes, but, you can run it thru the neighborhood at low RPM and not **** anyone off. Doesn't bother the cops at low RPM.
And at highway cruise, it's quiet.
