Shouldn't resurrect post that is 9 years old, always better to start a new post.

BTW, your code reader won't link because only the 96 was OBDII, still you can pull codes on the dash.

Its almost always the Ignition switch when they do this. its located on or close to the steering column under the dash. there anywhere from $13.00 - $25.00 the big plug in on it has 9 male terminals. put a new one in it should start. wont hurt to take the MAF sensor out and clean it with MAF cleaner and re install.

I have the same problem and you would figure with the MILLIONS of LT1's out there you would find a definitive answer, amazing lol.
