I just spent a lot of time looking in to this swap. If you don't have all the parts PM me, and I can tell you who I spoke to that have all the parts to complete it. If you need the spacer, do a search on third gen, there is a guy there that had like 30 of them, plus check the for sale section, because some of the guys sold of only some parts. If you got the intake cheap, and have most of the parts i think it seems to be worth it, at the very least it is an updated better performing intake for a very fair price in the vette world.
would i need to burn a new chip or can i drive it for a while until i can get a chip?
some guys will say it can be ok for a while, other think it will not.
I think you should contact some of these guys that have done it. There are more that have, but these guys did it forsure, and some are pros at it.
It will take a while, but just advanced search the tech section on the swap, tons of info, and easy to follow wrote ups, the hardest part is getting the intake machined right to seal.
