Nitto 555 extremes and Eagle F1 GS-D3
Just replaced my Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 with Nitto 555 extremes. From driving on both, I have to say the Nitto's feel better. I have driven both tires in wet and dry conditions. First thing I noticed was how much quieter the Nitto's were on the road compared to the Eagle F1's. I also noticed less virbation inside the car. These Nitto's stick like glue to the road surface, and hold traction around tight turns and off-ramps. The F1's were a great tire and had better traction in wet conditions than the 555's.
Overall, both are great tires, but the 555's are half the price!

I am not running them now because they were unavailable when I last needed tires.
But when I was running the DS-G3, they were extremely quiet and absolutely no vibration.
If you had a vibration, its possible you either had a bad tire or it was not balanced properly.

I'm running the 555r Drag radials, and i have to say that it's deifnitely a great tire for the price (as I've mentioned before). Great to hear that a forum member with experience with both has chimed in!
Nitto's are certainly narrower than the GS-D3's, but it's minimal. i purchased the 315/35-17's for less than $200/ea.

I just switched from BFG KDW's to the Nito 555 extremes and the Nitto is a great tire. The thing I noticed most of all was the reduction in noise. The BFG were REALLY noisy and my car is fully insulated with dynomat! I love the Nittos, they have great traction, look great, have a smooth sidewall (I hate duded up side walls) and they are reasonably priced, plus the reduction in noise is wonderful, the older I get the more I hate noise (except that exhaust rumble) what a pleasure to cruise in my car now that it's so much quieter. I went with 275s up front and 315 rear and am very happy.

I am sure the NEW Nittos are quieter than any tire that is worn out.Hard to compare a new one to an old one.
My gsd3's I do not consider noisy.I have them on the front and Nitto NTO5 on the rear.
I think the Nittos have better dry traction but they are designed for that. The gsd3 is a great all weather tire that does everything well.

The new tires may be better, not valid to compare against old tires. Of course, the testing of a new part vs. a tired part is how the aftermarket gets great advertising copy.

The BFG KDW's were not old, I plan on selling them soon and they have well over 1/2 tread depth left. I actually got rid of them mostly because of the noise, also because i wanted 315's - they look so good. Actually you would think that just changing from a 285 to 315 would increase noise since typically wider tire = more noise but the Nitto's are not only quiter but INCREDIBLY quieter. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3238482
