Default 1986 vehicle speed sensor confusion

86 with manual and 3.07 rear gear.

I am looking all around and can't find the sensor. Talked to a recycler and he said the PMG part of the sensor (silver body) is the same for an auto and a manual. it is just the end gears and the shaft gears that are different.

can anyone confirm this?

The VSS is located in the tail housing of the trans. I don't know if auto and manual trans VSSs are the same.

VSS type relates to diff ratio ; not trans type
Different rear end ratios require different speedo gears and the VSS varies according to the driven speedo gear used. The two VSS used each only take a certain range of gear sizes
