Default Tire Question

Hey Everyone,

I bought my first Vette today its an 87 with a 4+3, it needs new tires so I've been trying to find proper ones but I know they don't make the stock one which I believe were 250/50VR16 (please correct me if I'm wrong), So my question is can I go with either 245 or 255? Or if someone could give me a name of a good set to go with? I'm used to 17" and 18" that I had on my SS so I just wanted to be sure of what I was looking for.

To my understanding original size was 255/50-16.

I just got these for my -86:

BF Goodrich g-Force Sport 255/50-16

These may be one of the very few remaining manufacturers of the OEM 255/50VR -16 size. The later OEM 16" tires were Z rated. Originals (84-87) were all V rated.

Falken makes the correct size for your car and they are also uni-directional like the OEM Good Year tires were. I bought a set of the Falken Ziex 512 for my 85 and couldn't be happier with the performance, they were much better than the BF Goodrich tires I replaced. I believe tires.com has them, they're Z rated and cost $112.

When i got my car it had Michelen Pilot 255/50/r16's ride is ok, still lots of tread. Only thing is i have done a lot of searching on the net but can't figure out where they came from. Even Michelen does not list that size on their web sight.
