A 10 Incher and a 12 Incher
Many of you (maybe even MOST of you) may have observed that, when viewed from the rear, a LOT of our Vettes sit CROOKED.
Last I read, when asked, even the "Vette Guru" - what's his name anyway? - only smiled.
Anyway, both my son's 96 and mine were no exceptions. Both were noticeably HIGH on the PASSERGER SIDE - and not just visually either, but also with my long bubble level used to verify.
So to attack the problem I began playing with the bolts and I ended up having to install and adjust a 10 incher on the DRIVER'S side and a 12 incher on the PASSENGER SIDE. Both are 1/2" diameter.
I bought the bolts at Home Depot and, no, I didn't get all **** about Grade 8 and drilling holes for cotter pins. Those who choose to do so; be my guest. Double nutting and/or self-locking nuts are options. More than one way to skin a cat.
BTW, the 10" bolts, often seen offered in the aftermarket kits, would not have work for me. Passenger sides needed 12 inchers.
Not only did this bring the back end level - both visually and with the afore-mention bubble level (LOL) but I was, at the same time, able to lower the rear to get rid of that awful "Butt High" look.
Man, did that mod make the cars look SO MUCH MORE SLEEK.
Just thought I'd pass this along for the benefit of those who've yet to play that game. Now you guys can have fun dissecting what I did; I'll just it back and enjoy the show, LOL

Jake, I had that problem and when I installed the VBP's mponospring I lowered the passenger side an extra inch and now it's leveled.

12 inches, I'm impressed.

Where are these adjustment bolts your refering to? Are they on the front/rear spring or both? I have my motor out and figure this would be the time to play with the suspension or do you need the weight of the engine to level it correctly?

I also wonder if passenger side springs are set a bit higher to compensate for the fact the road is not level. Roads are crowned for rain roll-off. If you set things level on your drive, the passenger side would sit low on a road.

Some are much more noticable than others. Measure the gaps between the top of the tire and the lowest part of the wheel molding (both sides) for any difference. I prefer mine equal, not more gap on one side than the other.

Jake,
I have almost an 1 1/4" offset with longer bolts on mine to get it to set level on DS/PS.This is a common problem on a lot of the late model C4s. Spring changes and bushing didn't help it.The frame just appears to sag and take a set after a while with constant drivers side weight. Most seem to always end up having the drivers side lower than the PS. I plan a future 5 point roll bar to help keep the frame straight and also stiffen it.

I have a longer bolt on one side too, but I never wanted to mention it because I though I might get flamed (not the gay type of flame-you flamers, lol).
springs fatigue though- seems like on every older car I ever had, the passenger side was an inch lower.
