Rear wheel knuckle is loose...
I had to replace a rear wheel bearing on the '85 today. All went well. This was the second time we've chagned this wheel bearing. (Car has 225K miles...) However, this time we noticed that after changing the bearing, there was still some movement in the wheel when grabbing the tire at 10-O'clock and 4-O'click and shaking. Other side does not move a bit. When looking at the knuckle, it appears that the trailing arm bushings may be worn. The bushings on the other side also have some play but not nearly as much as this side. Besides the tierod end and the lower support from the rear pumpkin, are the trailing arms the only other connecting points for the knuckle? Does it sound about right that my problem could be worn bushings?
Thanks!

Yup, I've seen the same on a friends car-a temp. fix is we added a washer under the nut on the loose bushings to tighten them up.

Re: Rear wheel knuckle is loose... (drive it)
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give the washer idea a try.
