I was talking with the machinist, and he said since it is externally balanced, it would probably not be good to spin it over 6000 rpm, any thoughts on this? I don't really plan on spinning it close to that often, but the way he made it sound it was going to blow apart the motor mounts and fly out of the engine bay.
I've raced externally balanced 400's spinning them to 65-6800 with cast cranks before and the cranks or snouts haven't failed and that was hitting those RPM's 70+ times each weekend...

The only 'fear' over an internally balanced crank is that the offset weight on the front of a poorly cast crankshaft could shear off - that's pretty darn unlikely even with most cast cranks today so I wouldn't worry about it - the bigger worry is if you're going to strap a big belt driven blower to it and the loads of the blower + the balancer I've seen cause problems way more often than a properly balanced N/A setup. The weight on the rear is at the big end so it's really not a concern...

As it warms up here, I will be back to the garage with a slew of pictures on the way.

I wish I had gone internally balanced, but that is partially because you have a much better selection of balancers, especially lightweight ones from ATI, than with external.
I think and hope you'll be fine, mine has lived with +400rwhp/rwtq and 6500rpm runs so far just fine... knock on wood.

Got in touch with the machinist today, he said he hasn't had time to look over my block yet. He said within the next two weeks, he will be able to start working on mine.
...the waiting continues. On another note, we got another 6" of wet/heavy snow yesterday in central Wisconsin. What a joke
Still alive,

My machinist has had my block for a couple months now, but I told him Im not in a real hurry, and he has only been working on it when he gets some down time. I should have it by the end of this month. This is the busiest time for the block guys. Everyone is trying to ready for racing season!

Did a bit of work today...only had about an hour and a half of free time
removed the mammoth starter, almost dropped it on my face. heavy bitch.
dropped the rear portion of the exhaust, because i want to change the U-joints on the driveshaft.
Tried to get at the front y-pipe to get it off, but couldn't do it because i forgot my deepwell sockets at home.
Will do more work on wednesday.
On a side note, what is this connector here? Oil temperature? I didn't follow the wiring, I rand out of time and had to go to work. I relocated my knock sensor to the drivers side, just so there aren't any questions about that. Crappy cell phone picture.

...Looks like Summit is getting tricky.
Noticed this when I was looking for lifters,
Look at this page first,
http://www.summitracing.com/search/Department/Engines-Components/Part-Type/Lifters/Make/CHEVROLET/Lifter-Style/Hydraulic-roller/Lifter-Link-Bars-Included/No/Engine-Type/V8/Engine-Size/5-7L-350/Engine-Family/Chevy-small-block-Gen-III-IV-LS-based-engines/?Ns=Price|Asc
Then look at the:
GM Performance 12499225 - GM Performance Hydraulic Roller Lifters.
On the first page, they are 129.95. When you click on them and go to the item description page, they are 132.95.
Them sonsa bitches.
Will these work fine for my application, or should I go for the howards for $30 more?

Got some stuff done the past few days.
Andrew (aardwolf) came over and helped me out. Thanks!
Removed torque converter to flywheel bolts, both exhaust manifolds, drivers side head, and got 4 of the bell housing to block bolts undone.
Today I removed the passenger side head, and started evaluating my harness swap situation. Its going to be a dandy.
The car as it sits right now

He doesn't have a hoist yet. We talked to his neighbor about using the one he has though.

Tore into the dash today. I want to get the harness out of the bay before I pull the engine.
That's where I am at right now.
Does anyone know what this is? Or what It's supposed to be connected to? It wasn't connected to anything, and is tucked right behind the DIC
Also, is this the dimmer timer switch for the courtesy lights? Which relay is this? It's right behind the DIC
Thanks,
Jeremy
