Jeremy

It just so happens that I also had an 85 Coupe and I have the factory service manual for it. I will do a detailed scan thru the wiring schematics tonight. I did a quick look and didn't see anything like that in the harness connector details.

The two schematic details are very detailed and I will look for a connector with the same color wires and same connector end details.

It looks like the wire colors are:

Black
Red
Dark red
Green
yellow
Brown

Is there any numbers on the connector???

Bill

No numbers on the connector.

The machinist is about to start assembling my shortblock....about damn time.

At this moment in time, it is shot peened, bored, and align bored.

Maybe it'll be on the road by july....who knows.

Thanks a lot! I've never seen anything of the like before on the forum, so maybe we can shine some light on it. Might be an 85 only thing.

Machinist called me today,

He CC'd the heads, and they check out at 66cc each, so it will help bring my compression down around 10.5:1 instead of 11:1.

He keeps asking me if I want to run a thicker head gasket to knock compression down, I should be fine at 10.5:1 with 93 octane, correct?

Thanks,

Jeremy

Mine has more compression with less octane.

Oh and apparently when he was checking the heads, there was a bent exhaust valve. He said they were Manley valves, and he was shocked to see them in these heads. I asked him to save the bent valve so I can see it, in case he is ****ing with me. If they came off of a running car with no problems and sat in a box until they got to the machinist, I have doubts that there is a bent valve.

the closer you have your quench to .035-.040 the less likely it will be to detonate. it will be fine if with whatever it comes out to be if you keep the quench in the above range.

Just have to take the cam & springs to machinist. Then the shortblock will be done.

For future searches, i feel this should be included.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...pinions-4.html

As a status update, the harness is out of the car. I have to ship it to Jim's Performance to have a 87/85 hybrid harness built that will utilize the 85's charging system/dash, but the 165 ECM and burnoff relays for the MAF.

I would have had my shortblock back but ran into problems listed in thread above.

Pretty sure these two pictures are self explanatory.

Cell phone pictures, and yes that is a shopping cart in the back ground. The new shortblock should be here within a week.

Looks like you are enjoying the project. I use to feel that way when I was younger now it's all (literally) a pain in the back.

It's good to see him smiling. The last few days were kind of rough but Jeremy's having fun again. Get that engine bay cleaned up. Can't put a new engine in a cruddy compartment.
