I'm planning on doing my J55 conversion this weekend and was wondering if the later cars or the ZR-1's got a master cylinder with a larger piston bore. I think this would help especially in my case where I'm going from single to dual piston calipers on my 84. I'm keeping the rears stock but replacing everything, just upgrading the fronts to the bigger stuff. I'm also doing braided lines which should help too.
I do have the DRM bias spring already and since the system will be open, this would be the time to change to a later/different master if there are better bolt-on versions available.
The 84 master should be fine . I did the swap on a 86. If I didnt have the antilock pump I would run a Wildwood proportioning valve . I have never been able to lock the rear brakes .I have the spring also
get some decent pads ,fluid
I also looked for a better M/cylinder . Im all ears if someone know of a better mouse trap .
early 84-85 have two resovoirs...more fluid
