Default those w/ coilovers...is the ride worse than stock? also do they add weight?

Ive seen a couple threads on impressions after a coil-over install.

Usually it goes something like this:

Handling is way better ! wow. liked the twities. Man is the ride rough.

Then there is typically a re-post a few days later: Improved the ride after making some adjustments.

Im wondering what the overall verdict on coil-overs, on ride is.

My 93 c4 vert (with stock springs, bilstein z51 shocks, and 275/40R17 front, 315/35r17 rears) does not ride very well on pothole patched roads.

Finally, does a coil-over set add weight? Id like to know.

Dont know about the weight but the ones Ive driven with coilovers rode night and day better not crazy stiff and buckboard like some C4s can be. Nice upgrade

so initial ride complaints seem like more of an adjustment issue (on the coilover settings) vs. just a 'nature of the beast' issue with coil-overs.

Whats the best coilovers? pros/cons

QA1?

DRM?

Vansteel?

I replaced the custom valved Bilsteins I had with the coilover package from Van Steel. The handling is great and I don't get the gut busting when I ride over a less than perfect surface.

It doesn't ride like an old Buick floting down the road. To get decent handling there is a compromise point between comfort and performance.

I did the VanSteels, and at first I was worried that I messed up...but after some turning on the dials, I'm happy.

As far as weight goes, the coilovers are about the same once you figure the springs, mounting stuff, and old shocks.
