i bought the repair manul and been reading it.i hope to learn how to do all basic maintenance, but i'm holding on that thought.i saw a c5 corvette for sale,is 2004, coupe, trunk 6speed, for $23,000.i drove it and i really like that one.more comfortable, lots of power.i think ill get into that one.my93's previous owner would buy it back from me.
Noticed you inhabit 29 Palms/ TOO BAD/Joke. The temperature in the summer is hot enough to warrant a Trans-cooler (Mount in front of A?C condenser), and maybe an oil cooler (Same size as Power steering cooler and mounted in front of P/S cooler.) Mt trans runs 20-30 cooler and my oil 10 degrees cooler than water temp. The forum will have many articles to help along the way and get others opinion on modifications and how to's. I followed the advice from many owners before buying and saved hundreds of dollars by doing so. Be patient and seek advice.

Mike I'm surprised CA allows any vehicle owner to do work on their car especially if there is a remote possibility of creating any type of oil spill.
Years back, when I was chasing my son around the garage as he was making off with my tools to work on his tricycle I forgot to put the drain plug in and created a 5 quart Mobil 1 oil slick on the floor. Costly lapse of memory that has not been repeated.
Just don't be afraid to break things & make mistakes, that's how you learn. For example, stripping threads or bolt heads is frustrating... but learning how to use easy-outs, taps, etc. is an amazing feeling.
congratulations. even if your talents, or inclinations, never take you past changing filters and fluids, you'll save hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars over the life of your car. and you won't have to subject your vette to the shoddy, or worse, work done by some of these so called "professionals".
I just changed my oil the other day cost me $11 I'm doing my wifes this weekend. If you add them both I saved $50 this month. I will also do my own tranny and diff fluid change on both vehicles soon.
Hey "Desert", I WILL compliment you. I am a certified shade tree mechanic but only one of my four grown sons would change their own oil. Remember that the ONLY difference between you and the experts is not that they are smarter, it is that they have done it before. dd

I'd buy a set of Factory Service Manuals as one of your next purchases. They are so valuable, ask anyone without a set. Whoops, looks like you already have set from above post.
