Default 90 L98 not running

Ok, I have a L98 6speed I completly replace all the gasket and know 100% no vac leak. Im getting gas because it will run if I keep pumping the gas. I did remove the the distributor. That where Im having the trouble I can not get it to a good spot where it will stay running.

Can someone help me on this?

Sometime if I give it gas it will just die. and other run for a second or two.

Have you timed it yet or trying to? You need to unplug the little 1 wire plug near the brake booster so the computer doesn't try to adjust timing. If you unplug that as well as the idle air control (underside of throttle body) then the idle will probably stabilize a bit to where you can hold the throttle in one spot.

Ya gotta have 3 things

Fuel

Air

Fire

Start by elimination and start with the easiest or least complex (It really helps to have a manual and good troubleshooting guide)

Sounds like a vac leak or something is not plugged in correctly. What exactly did you do? when did this start?

Thing I know for a fact that is not the problem.
No vac leaks
fuel is good
Spark is good
new gasket
everything that was unhooked rehooked
No codes thrown

This started because a lifter gave out and bent a push rod.

Have you done a compression test on that cylinder? How about a leak down test?

You'll need a compression gauge. You'll want to disconnect the distributor (keep it from starting up) The compression gauge comes with a hose, on one end it attaches to the gauge on the other it screws into the spark plug hole. Turn the engine over several times. You will want to test several if not all of the cylinders while you're at it. While the engine is turning have someone open the throttle blades.

Ok, What kind of numbers should I be looking at for the test?

I can't remember what the stock number was, probably between 130-150, but the main thing is to make sure that all cylinders are about the same.
