Default Hose(s) for OE(ish) TB Bypass

92-LT1

I'm buttoning the car back up after a heater core and want to replace the remaining cooling system hoses...

I just ordered the late C4 upper rad hose (one piece). I want a OEM (or very clean looking) TB bypass. So what is the optimum solution for my newly stranded heater core hose.

How are the 96's plumbed?
Can I convert to the 96 plumbing?

Thanks in advance!

No such thing.
You could just run the heater hoses back direct to the WP outlets but you need to make provision somewhere for the steam vent line from rear of heads into the heater return line

oops

I thought because the late c4's had a one piece upper, they were sans TB circuit.

So the late c4's just have a slightly different TB plumbing circuit?

All TB have the coolant hoses to the IAC housing.
How the hoses are routed varies
Looking at so online diagrams it looks like the Vette LT1 steam tube goes back to the reservoir bottle so you don't have to worry about that ; as you have deleted coolant to TB all you have to do is hook up heater hoses

I got an hose connector, one side had the larger diameter on one end.
Then just connected the two hoses together. Used new hose as well.

Attached is the cooling system diagram for the 1992 LT1.

Notice I'm removing the "T" (Diagram#10) & Hose#9.

My Hose#5 will be orphaned. In upgrading to the one piece upper radiator hose, I'm going to find a new home for this hose.

Does anyone have the 96 FSM handy? Can you post the cooling system diagram?

Thanks for your input rodj & jaa1992

If you eliminate hose #9, there will be no coolant flow to the heater core, and the HVAC will not work. If this is ok, you could just cut #5 off short where it does not show and plug it. If you want the HVAC to remain functional, you could keep the "T" in the upper radiator hose and fabricate a connection from there to the #5 hose, thereby bypassing the tb but keeping the flow thru the heater core. If you go this route, you can probably run the fabricated section under the air intake in front of the tb.

In these pics of a 94? setup, the TB flow goes back into the heater return line ,not to the heater core so why could you not just duplicate that setup with both heater lines from the pump (without the TB plumbing)
The coolant to heater core through the TB on the early LT1's is a carry over from the L98 setup ; obviously changed on the later LT1's

Raccer,

A couple of weeks ago, there was a guy who had the same basic problem as you, and the trouble came down to the earlier LT1 (92-93) used a different waterpump and heater hose arrangement that the later LT1 (94-96).

a few of the venders sell a kit for bypassing the TB, looks professional.
