You can buy a pump from these guys for $225:

You need a pump with the auxiliary valve body pipe (1987-1/2 and newer).

You'll need new stator shaft ring seals also.

Well since this is where the tranny experts are..have a question.
My 92 tranny lost reverse after only 7000 miles, in 7 years but still 7000 miles..they said the piston cracked. How can that happen, not that I know what piston they are talking about, but even they could not explain how it happened...

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I have to do this to my 85. Arrrrrrgh...

Would it be worth going with the 87 pump vs. using the stocker 85?

if u go to a 87 up pump plug the reverse feed hole and yes the 10 vane is a better pump but u can upgrade yours with a new rotor slide vanes even to 13v
