L98 Oil Catch Can
#2
Moroso and others sell very Nice oil catch cans.
Should be easy to configure up what you need.
Do you think that the fuel or gasoline in your tank is sloshing around badly going into deep corners and when on the gas hard coming out that the fuel pump strainer or sock is coming uncovered?
Do race with at least a 1/4 tank of gasoline?
You might want to add a few gallons more to your gas tank before hitting the track to see if the misfire disappears for you that way.
Just an idea that ran through my head tonight.
Cheap fix to your misfire problems only while racing hard if it indeed works for you.

Its not a great picture but its all I have. I installed a $30 Summit catch can (red can with breather on top) on my '90 in between the rad and engine. I use Moroso valve cover breathers that have a hose barb on them and the right and left tee into one hose going into the tank.
You can kinda see the hoses going above the valve covers to one hose going into the can. There is also a petcock on the bottom of the can where I attached a hose and ran it to just in front of the pass control arm so when I need to drain it I open the petcock and put an empty oil quart under the drain hose and then pour it back in.

I was JUST inside that side of my '91, and I don't have that much room there...AND I have a rats nest of hoses and cables in the way!
VERY nice!
P.S. My fender liners look NOTHING like yours. Mine have been peppered by so many stones getting kicked up from the sticky slicks that it looks like someone just shot-peened them.
I've spent 2 nights cleaning nothing but the passenger side of the engine bay up. I got nothing better to do until my missing intake part gets here in a few days. I figured it was the least I could do for the old girl...she hasn't been scrubbed under the hood since I put the motor in, and that was 2001 (I think). Not saying I don't clean it...but there is a huge difference between spraying it out with a pressure washer and scrubbing the stuff off the paint.
She's given me 20 good years of fun...she deserves a little spa treatment

I suspected a wiring harness issue. Called some of the people who repair/build harnesses for L98's and was told to check the GROUNDS. They all come together in a single point under the car in the tunnel.
I was told to pull them all apart, clean every one with sandpaper, clean the frame point with sandpaper, and then coat everything with dielectric grease before putting it back together.
I'll be working on that next week. This week I just want to get it running again. Plenum should be back tomorrow or Thursday, then we'll see if I managed to fix it (totally unrelated...the powder-coat was bad, so while I had the intake apart swapping out injectors I figured it was a good time to send it out).

I dont know about others, but on my car I was getting excessive blow by in the cylinders which was increasing crank pressure and blowing oil out. This $30 catch can was my band aid until I could get the engine re-built. I will probably re-install it when the new motor goes in because with long sweeping left turns (and the fact that the engine rotates CCW) oil fills up in the pass valve cover and has a tendency to spill out or get sucked up by the hose attached to the throttle body.
