Default 1985 C4 Antenna Help

Power antenna sensor wire???. I have a 1985 c4 when I got the car the antenna was stuck in the up position. Today I tried to put a new antenna in and turned the radio on to have the antenna keep running in the up position until the ribbon broke. Plus if you turn off the radio the antenna wont come back down. I am thinking maybe there are some crossed wires behind the radio,or is there a sensor that tells the antenna when to stop and when to go back down. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks. Normally, radios have a 12V power lead that triggers your antenna. That means 12V is sent (from the radio) to the antenna when you turn your radio on. It also means the antenna is "responsible" for shutting the motor off when it's upper limit is reached.

The 12V antenna lead does not go neutral until the radio is turned off.

Is this the same for 84 cars? I have an aftermarket deck and it still has the 12 v lead and i just bought a brand new antenna because of the same problem it was stuck halfway up, u can hear the motor run but it wont actually move the antenna! Could it be the aftermarket deck... do u have stockers?

Not sure it is. After all, if the deck doesn't send the signal, why would it eve move? I would think that it isn't a power issue but to rule that out, maybe a DVOM at the terminals to see what power it is getting? If the terminals are bad, you might not be getting all you should but other than that, I don't think so. Still, if you want to, hook it up to a known good batter for a test to see if it rises up.

If not get a new antenna like I did or try Cialis
