Default Headlight Wiring Diagram needed for 1990

Hey Guys

My headlights open and close perfectly but do not light up. I think it may be the switch. I have no power to connector at the headlight. I unplugged the switch in the dash and I have power to the orange and red wires. Does anyone know which wire is for the lights? I'm trying to jump it to see if it really is the switch.

Section 8-A is missing from my manual. Is that sold separately?

Thanks for the help!

Do the highbeams work? The yellow wire, K terminal on the headlight switch, goes to the dimmer switch.

No high or low beams. That makes be think its not the dimmer switch but I'm not sure.

Must be the picture is blocked by your work site.

The dimmer switch is mounted on the driver side/middle of the steering column.

I've posted a picture of it. It has a 3 pin connector going to it.
Yellow wire is 12 volts from the headlight switch when the switch
is in the Head position.

Yellow wire passes the 12 volts to the Light Green wire for High beams.
Yellow wire passes the 12 volts to the Tan wire for Low Beams.

You can bypass the dimmer switch if you think its defective.

Unplug the 3 pin electrical connector and short the Yellow wire
to either the Light Green wire for high beams or Tan wire for low beams.
Then turn on the Headlight switch and verify if the headlights work.

Here's the picture of the activation rod. Item #2 in the picture. When
you pull forward on the dimmer switch you should hear a nice crisp
click sound.

The last picture is the dimmer switch (item #2) which can be adjusted.

If the tilt wheel pivot pin holes wear out it's possible the rod that
activates the dimmer switch is out of position. In that case you can try
moving the tilt wheel to a different position and see if the dimmer switch
works.

Hooked on Vettes,

I got your email. I will check the dimmer switch tonight after work. I think you are right about it having something to do with the tilt column. My dad drove the car a couple weeks ago and moved it all the way up and the lights havent worked since then. So maybe something pulled lose.

Thanks

Default Problem Solved!

Thanks Hooked on Vettes! You are the Man!!

Turns out the connector to the dimmer switch was unplugged.

Check this out. I looked up under the dash last night after removing the lower carpet panel and found the dimmer switch. When I first looked at it I couldnt believe what I saw. The wiring connector was completely unplugged and tucked up in the harness. I could tell it had been removed by someone and didnt just come loose. It had to be the mechanic where I had the state inspection done because the lights worked before that. I'm not sure why he would have done that. I did have him do some testing on the car because it has a low end hesitation in the throttle. He said there was a map sensor code and there was a problem with the map sensor wiring. So maybe he unplugged the lights so it wouldnt drain the battery. Who knows. I've since learned that I need a custom chip burned because I installed the Super Ram intake and its not getting enough fuel now.

Thanks for your help Tom. You saved me a lot of time and effort. It would have taken me much longer to figure this out if you had not mentioned the dimmer switch.
