There's a tab on the tube that goes to a stud (and is held in place by a nut) on the exhaust manifold. It is pressed in to the block. In the pic below, you can see where the tab is located on the header and you can follow the tube down to the block and see that it's pressed in.
The usually take a combination of twisting & pulling at the same time to free them.

Drifting
I was able to get mine out by twisting first back and forth gently. The twisting broke the bond of the sealant and I was able to gently pull it out. It takes awhile.

I got mine out by putting channel locks on the tube then tapping up on the channel locks with a hammer...Gentle like.....WW

If it turns out to be my oil leak I'll post how I fixed it next week.

Technically you just press it in. You'll see a raised ridge on the tube that prevents it from going in too far and helps with sealing. However, I use a cotton swab to clean the oil out of the hole in the block and I clean oil off of the tube itself. Then I put a small dab of RTV (I use "The Right Stuff") around the dipstick tube near the aforementioned ridge as extra leak-proofing insurance.
