And someday one of our robot probes will find something really interesting..but we will have no way to get there ourselves...

Ever wonder what happens to a hyper piston, PM rod and cast crank when you boost them up to 1200HP and can no longer keep the water temp at 98*F?

Just bump the rev limiter one time at full boost....

Think a car running wide open down the track has the same steady load placed on it as it did running on that dyno's water brake?

Magazine articals are nothing but a bunch of bunk written to get stupid people to buy whatever parts Comp Cams and Trick Flow heads are advertising that month....

There is a reason real 1200HP cars run built engines.
There is also a reason only a handful of people build them.
There is yet another reason lots of big talkers try and fail to build one.

I am not so sure............

My buddie Crazy Ed in Joliet, IL has a 8.20 1/4 mile 5.0 Mustang that puts down 1,400 HP to the rear wheels.

He ported his own Trickflow "R" heads & Intake.
Managed to get 400CFM intake flow @ 28 inches of water.
Vortech YSi centrifugal supercharger.

Ford Motorsport cast iron racing block good to 2,000HP.

Steel Crank & Rods.
CP pistons.

Nothing real fancy.

He street drives it on occasion.

There are dozens of these supposed impossible to street drive full race cars in the Chicagoland area.

Many were sold in the 2007 to present US recession.

Ed has his car yet.

My other bud up there Dave has his 410sbc 5.0 Mustang.
Runs 8.30's in 1/4 mile.
He street drives his too.
Nitrous is his power adder.

I have ridden in both cars riding shotgun strapped in.
It was no sissy little girl rides I took.

Front ends off the ground after a 100 foot burnout/ on launch.
I seen over 140 MPH on the street in both cars.

I know 140 MPH,
Your vision and perception of distance & time changes at that MPH speed.
Been there 100's of times in my own cars.
And I love it.

I believe the HOTROD article being talked about.

A small block Ford can do it..........

So can an LS engine.

absolutely
If driving a real 10 second car or faster and it isn't blowing the tire off the rim (hooked), it will take on that feeling. In my own hot rods using manual a3's once in 3rd, a three lane road would appear to narrow down and feel like it has becomes one lane. It is something that at first is not easy to get comfortable with...
a llittle something for you Brian:

to the point of the thread, making big power is not really a concern, it's making relable power that is key.

I booked that thread on my laptop about 2 years ago Mick.

Can You tell me in YOUR own words what it was like like Owning & Driving the LEGENDARY RACE HEMI SILVER BULLET.

My bud MOPAR Bob knows your old car too.

To us both,

You & the Silver Bullet are All American Heroes on the Track & Street.
