Default Eckler's Locking Gas Cap (Part # A5209) Key Replacement

This is just a public service announcement for anyone who has this locking gas cap from Eckler's. I bought it a couple years ago, and recently I had to do some looking around to find out how to get a replacement key for it. The two keys that come with it basically hang you out to dry because there's no identifying properties on them (like the blank code).

Anyway, the local locksmith hooked me up with a replacement key that fits perfectly. The key blank is an ilco X138 HD75. There ya go. I love the internet..

Most caps are really simple and a bunch of different keys will open them if you can get the key in the slot. I lost a cap key and a mini excavator key got it off to be replaced. Or was it my tool box key? I dont really remember but if you get into the situation try every small key you have.

When all else fails, a screwdriver and wrench will take care of a locking gas cap.
