Default 96 LT1 troubleshooting question

I started having overheating issues, and now the power steering feels "sticky", and I think my charging system is not running consistently. My thought is the one thing they have in common is the serpentine belt. I changed it, same problems. Now I'm thinking tensioner. When I changed the belt, I pulled the tensioner to loosen it. It didn't seem really hard to pull. How much tension should be on the belt?

There are indicator marks on the tensioner. IIRC if it is not in the middle its time to change it.

My new tensioner isn't that hard to move with the tool. With the belt on its at the first mark.

I found out the problem, my water pump is leaking, that's my overheating issue, and the coolant leaking right on the belt seems to be the cause of the slipping of everything else. We'll see.

Good luck, maybe the water pump leak didn't take the opti out
