New Opti In but Issues Still - 95' LT1
Put in the new AC Delco Opti last night with new Taylor wires. It started and ran fine we brought it up to Operating Temp.I stopped it and upon restarting it started but then died.It didn this a couple times then no start at all. My mech. friend seems to think it's a Fuel Pump relay problem???? We didn't have time last night to trouble shoot.Has anyone heard of this possibility??
It now has an entirely new Ignition System.Coil,ICM,Harnes,Opti & Wires.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanx
Dennis

Fuel pressure is easy enough to check. Hook up the gauge and see what/if its doing anything. Relay should NOT be an issue. It has built in back-up for a failed FP relay. Filter is more likely. Use a NOID lite to see if there is signal to the inj and spark tester to check ignition.
The fuel inj and relay get the ok to pulse/run from reference signals that originate from the distributer, that tells the ECM that the eng is running, so continue with fuel. No reference from dist, no ok from ECM to run FP or cycle injectors. This is to prevent flooding and not waste fuel on a non run condition.

The more research I do it sounds like a classic fuel pump problem. We'll do some testing this Sunday.I'm gonna change the fuel filter as well it's been about 50K Miles since last changed. .

Make sure you do not have a pinched wire
My mechanic told me a similar story, we got a replacement opti, which he tried tell me it, too, was bad. Then he found he had shorted a wire.
Made me kind of mad. Sometimes it sucks being lazy!

Thanx Guys I also believe it's fuel related. My fuel filter has over 50K Mi on it.I'm getting a filter, pump, relay & regulator to be safe.I'll diagnose this Sunday.
Thanx Guys for all your input
