Is this a D44 or D36

These C3 dana 44's are a deal to pick up $ Cheap for a street rodder.
Low as $100 complete with brake rotors & calipers.
Just have drive to pick them up.
C4 Dana 44 prices are very high yet for the desirable 3.45 & 3.54 factory installed rears. $1400 to $2K.
Used. Take your chances using it in your car as is.
Some sales I have seen did not include the batwing cover.
No one wants to budge off their prices for them.
1985- 1987 C4 3.07 : 1 rear diffs can be bought for $900 to $1,100 with some searching.
Batwing cover included.
Have money left over to purchase New ring & pinion set & installation kit then.
Get the 3.54 to 4.88 gear ratio set you want then.
Be money ahead & freshly rebuilt too.

C4 diffs ( both types ) have alum halfshafts , a fiberglass spring and have a bracket each side underneath to mount the camber arms;
not the one piece bracket shown in your pic
