I got a new coyote 5.0 convertible mustang out of the hole the other day.
I had traction control on and just sprung out of the hole. He started nosing up a little to where I could actually see him in the side window then someone pulled out in front of him LOL!

Lol. But since it's been resurrected.. Was coming back from the movies last week and a late 90's mustang GT rolled up next to me and my wife at the light. When the light turned green I took off normal and then I heard him punch it. So I punched it and shot a car length ahead of him. He gave up and I just cruised back home. The wife and I laughed all the way after acting like dumb kids. I was actually surprised how bad we spanked him even after he got the drop on us by punching it first.

I think a lot of it comes down to what C4 and what Mustang.
So, in the name of hella necro threads, here's how it works out since I have owned basically all of them.
Late Fox 5.0 vs early C4, should favor the Fox if it's a manual. Auto's had crap gearing. It's close, but the Mustang usually will edge out an early C4 automatic if the Fox is a 5 speed. At least that was the result wit the 2 L98 cars I had (87 and 90), vs 2 of my stock manual 5.0's (90 and 93).
Now, if we're talking 4.6 Mustangs (also needs to be manual to get non crappy rear gears), it'll depend on year. An early 4.6 non PI car would be about the same as a late fox 5.0, if not a hair slower. SN95 cars are heavy, and the mod motors don't have the torque of the 5.0. My '96 would lose to my '90 C4 every time.
Now, if we're talking late 4.6 (PI motors), it gets a little harder. Those things can run pretty well, and my '90 C4 wouldn't pull on my '02 GT.
Now, if we're talking an LT1 C4, it's game over for the Mustang. End of line, end of story. But, the same thing goes for an LT1 F Body vs a mod Mustang. It's just no comparison, the LT1 is really an underrated engine, and has some massive grunt stock. I used to toy with Mustang guys in modded cars in my LT1's. Troll them, if you will. AND I'M A FORD GUY! I grew up on Mustangs!
Sure, some of it comes down to driver, but I put my cars against each other with a friend, who was an equally competent driver. We drag race together.
So, before anyone says anything, I stand nothing to gain. Keep in mind, most of my comparisons came from running my cars against themselves. So I win no matter what.
