I am getting some surges in rpms while cruising at a steady speed and was told this may be the problem, the problem is it doesnt happen all the time....is there a way to test the tps also what does the plug look like and where is it
Re: how do i test my throttle position sensor? (C4Fetish)
Hi. The TPS is located on the passenger side of the throttle body. It's the black plastic piece. You can buy a 3 connector test harness from one of the mags or you can buy the non-piercing leads for a volt meter (I forget what they're called). You want to hook up the 2 leads to 2 of the 3 wires on the connector for the tps. I can't remember the color of the wires, but you won't get a reading if you've got it hooked up to one of the wrong wires. Set the vm to volts DC and turn the ignition on (don't start it). At idle it should read around .5-.65 volts. At WOT it should be around 4.3-4.6.

The TPS is found on the right side of the TB>
Unplug the connector and hook up a DMM and monitor the resistance as you smoothly move the throttle from idle to full open position> The value should increase continuously with no jumps nor flat spots>
