Delete The "Frisbee" ((65Z01 I need your input on this))
So I was reading about the Frisbee infront of the water pump..is it true? It really robs power???? How can I delete this? Will it have to be replaced with a small/lighter pulley?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I took mine off and put in a 383 while I was at it.
I know this is haaaard to believe but I gained about 100hp! And, about 80 ft/lbs of torque too!

we deleted the frisbee on my friends 88, took all of 5 minutes we put the 4 bolts back on with no washers. As for power increase he did a full pulls next to my brother's 88 which still had the frisbee they were dead even every time and neither car pulled on the other, both cars are stock otherwise, so its a very minimal gain if any.

-yes...
It really robs power????
-yep, 8-10chp was shown by trap speed gains of .8-1.0 mph, adjusted for air temp & pressure and with same coolant temp.
How can I delete this?
-loosen WP pulley bolts, remove serp belt, bolts, pulley & frisbee; replace pulley, bolts and serp belt.
Will it have to be replaced with a small/lighter pulley?
-nope, use stock pulley, might need lock washers under pulley bolt heads???
BTW, the frisbee on my '88 was a thick slab of steel ~10lb; I believe on your '90 it's a thin metal disc with thick outer rim. Both provide power robbing interia when accelerating hard.

Lots to ponder.
I'd ponder about .8-1mph difference in trap speed being due to lauch variance. Plus, Paul Workman gave one of the best (though heady) explanations of why the frisbee delete couldn't be worth much more than about 3hp. (Look for frisbee in the title of a 1/3/2012 C4General forum thread.)
Since one can r/r their frisbee in less than 10 minutes, why not try it and see how overwhelmed the torque becomes?

I chose to make passes on successive weekends with coolant temps the same and normalizing for air temp & pressure (I have two equations for this purpose). I always recorded raw 1/4 mile data along with normalized data and coolant temp and launch RPM, the latter for ET comparasons.

That would be one way.

Hi, sounds like it would be fun.
Unfortunately my '88 was hit last Dec and recently taken by Travelers. I see several 35ths for sale within a 100 mile area but haven't checked them out; waiting to get the check from Travelers.
Have you signed up to compete in the Corvette Challenge series at Englishtown? I signed up again this year even though I don't currently own a Vette...

I dunno I think its funny to talk about tpis especially when you run all the sentences and words together and talk about all the stuff that happened to ya one day at the track when you ran into a C5 or he almost ran into you or was it an El Camino ya know El Camino owners are pretty wild-azz and I think I'd wanna race one sometime especially if I was in or around the Los Angeles area ya know where Ron lives OTOH, it might be nice to drop by and see Brian where he make his Tri-Y headers while I was there or maybe even have Ron time me to see how much faster my car is with and without the frisbee I'm not sure if this is making any sense strung all together like this but it sure is run writing the world's longest sentence!
