I bought a set of used long tubes and have everything but the header gaskets which I know I can just pick up at the parts stores. What kind should I go with? I've noticed some are circles and some are square ports. Which one should I get? This is for a 90 L98
I think Fel Pro makes a D Port Gasket. Anyway I put a bead of red permatex on em before bolting em down. After it runs awhile with em on go back and snug em down again (bolts with a little anti sieze on em) Pipe
Why not? If he has a good quality header they wont leak.
Shoot Ive used stock exh gaskets with headers before
If a bolt come loose they will blow out. If they get wet they will blow out. Use the Copper or Aluminum gaskets. You can reuse them. Also try EARL'S. They have reusable inserts and if the headers warp, they will still seal.

That's funny....I used FelPro on my AFR-headed, Try-Y Headered 383 and they've lasted 1.5 yrs. Didn't even have to re-tighten them. (Though I did recheck.)
May not be a testimonial for 10-yr use, but I don't have to change/tighten them every day either. I thing the bigger issue is how well-made (and thick) your header flange is.
