Maybe you don't see it because the cover is on it.

Not that I know of, its gotta be there somewhere. There would be no reason I can think of for it to not be in there somewhere.

I thought of that long ago but I believe it couldn't be overlooked. It's been awhile since I've seen mine but I thought they were well identified like this:

Here's mine. It's the black plastic piece on the far right. Mine has a cover on it that pulls off toward the rear. It is attached to the carpeted panel above it. It's right above your right knee when you're sitting in the driver's seat.

I'm not the only one then. Been searching for my connector this morning and its not there. Took the panel off and had a quick look but no sign. Will now go out and get down there with a torch and see if I can locate where it has been moved to !!! 91 L98.

Lights, er you mean messages on the driver info center? Probably the traction control acting up... In most cases it points to the steering sensor... I have the same issue. I know this is C4, but I just want to point out, while mine was throwing messages at me, it began to actually apply brakes to one wheels and that made for no fun. It would actually deactivate the cruise control as well. If it does this shut down the traction control, or it will start pulling you around the road. You know the drill, post the codes over in C5 tech. At least that car will almost spell out what is wrong on the DIC.

As for the C4, pull the panel and really dig up in there. it has to be there, or you should at least find a bunch of cut off wires. got to love PO

That what I think also. Have you actually pulled the panels and looked with a good bright light.

When I had my dash apart I tucked it behind the carpet on the transmission tunnel (behind the A/C control head).

Or check behind the radio. I worked on my friends 88 and it was stuffed behind the radio. I put it back in place.

Actually, it was common for Dealer Service Techs to unbolt these Connectors when hooking up their Tech 1's and then burying them under the Dash. You've got lot's of pictures to work with - Data Stream is spliced to the Dash so if you can find that you can probably find the Connector. As to looking for Codes, unless there's a steady Check Engine Light, there isn't any. You can scan for fuel delivery - maybe pick up on any "garbage in/garbage out" issues. Not much else.

Mine was cut by a PO. I had to peice one together from junkyard parts and rewire. If you find a wire bundle (9 wires on a '93) that is coming down from the center of the dash behind the radio, that is probably it. You should find a wiring diagram so you can ID it, though mine was pretty obvious. I would think if the connector is still on there, it will be pretty obvious to find, I cannot imagine someone going out of their way to hide it on you.

Dug in a bit deeper and found mine tucked in amongst the wiring.

The connector should be under the dash. to the right of the steering wheel.

Where your right knee or chin will get whacked.....
