Default HELP: oil sending unit location

In the process of restoring my daughter's '89 C4, I pulled the engine out to repair & rebuild it. Upon re-installation, I'm having difficulty determining which of the two holes above the oil filter/oil cooling housing the sensor goes in. There is one immediately above the oil filter, and then there is another threaded hole slightly above that one, only further towards the rear of the engine. Does anyone know which hole the sensor belongs in? And what goes in the other hole? Had the engine out so long I can't remember. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Dan

The oil temp sensor is the one directly above the oil filter.
The hole above and to the rear is for the ground wires.
