Default Dash problems in a 86

My instrument panel where the gas gauge in completely blurred started as a small spot and just keep getting bigger now all I can read is the last two numbers in the coolant temp. It is now spreading to the speedometer. Is there any way to fix this or does the whole thing need to be replaced?

kinda sounds as if your LCD is broken, youll need a new one, and it is expensive, not sure where to find it though.

Yeah, that doesn't sound too good. These guys are right, a replacement maybe in order. I've heard $250 or so for repairs. Good luck!

Sounds like the speedometer and middle LCD panes need replacement.

Check out United Radio, Inc (1-800-448-0944). They did a great job on rebuilding mine in January, 2001. Total cost was $288 parts, labor, shipping, etc. I had a number of broken LCDs and they turned it in and out quickly.

Thanks everyone for your info, it has helped alot. I was hearing it would be almost $800 for the dash to be replaced. I'm glad it doesn't being only 20 and still making payments on the car $800 is hard to come up with, I can deal with 200 to 300.
