Default GM ESC module for 89 corvette...can someone verify p/n? 16022621?

I was wondering if there is a way to verify if GM ESC (electronic spark control module) p/n 16022621 is the one that belongs to a 1989 corvette? This module has BLH on the front of it.

Also, did these ESC modules change p/n's, or 3 digit letter code over the years? Or did they stay the same?

Does anyone know what year the cars started getting knocking sensors and ESC module?

it seems that after 1989, the ESC module was eliminated and the ECM controlled all knock related functions.

16022621 was used '83 - '86MY GM for production. The BLH if it's on a label is what was used on the assembly line for the installer to match to the build. It wouldn't have been on an '89MY from production. The part is likely date coded also. Got snapshots?

Yes the numbers would change when there was a required change in production and generally speaking the 3 letter code used on the assembly line would also change. That is NOT chiseled in stone!

Does anyone know what year the cars started getting knocking sensors and ESC module? In Corvettes, I believe it was either '82 or '84. Others (Buick or Pontiac) had it earlier.

The ESC "circuit board" that was inside the black module housing was just relocated into the ECM. Same basic electronics and function. The change allowed a reduction in wiring harness wires and pins, allowing an increase in reliability and a reduction in cost.
