Default Battery Drain Question

Have an '85 vette and the battery goes dead in about week. My meter reads 80ma of draw which seems excessive so I did some checking and it appears the draw is my alternator. When I pull off the exciter plug the draw is only 2 ma. I pulled the rectifier and trio and they both checked out good. I am going to take my alternator in to get tested but does any one have any other suggestions.

So it appears my alternator is fine. I checked voltage at the exciter line plug and it has 12v with key off so that is my problem, I just need to figure out why. Ignition switch maybe?

Not sure how similar the 85 is to the 84, but here's the schematic for the 84 charging circuit..

Hope this helps..

Please please please check the simple stuff. I had a slow drain and it turned out to be a door switch going bad. It always seemed work fine when I was looking at it, but I replaced both of them anyways. Problem is now gone.

You could also do your amperage check again but pull fuses until the largest drain goes away. That would at least narrow it down to the circuit.
