Default my air intake is rubbing my hood! HELP

i have a carburetor on my engine, it is a 650 CFN 4 barrel holley. On top of it there is a incredibly large air intake Frisbee. If i remember right it is a 16 or 16 1/2 inch filter!!! Well it is so tall that it rubs the bottom of the hood and it actually at one point caused the opposite side, the painted side to crack real bad :'(. (this happened when i didnt own it)
Can i size down my frisbee or can i buy a short filter, or does the 650 carb need a certain spec frisbee?

Well I remember an episode do Car Wars where they cut the filter in half, shortened it, to make clear the hood. Just make sure your cut is even all around so there will be no possibility of unfiltered air entering the intake.

Get a shorter filter..or get rid of the carb.

I'm keeping the carb haha
Before I did I wanted to make sure the carb didn't need a certain size air intake filer! Thanks!

you need a drop base for the air filter. Moroso has a 1&3/4 drop assembly or get a race base in 14" or 16" diameter with 2&3/4 drop, use the top you have.

A shorter filter element may also work depending on clearance needed. Filters can be selected by size on the K&N web site.

you can get a 2 inch high filter. shouldn't have any issues, also look into a flat gasket

You will need to consider a small 2" high by 7" diameter air cleaner. It will work but the outer edge may still rub slightly on the hood. Not sure what type of intake you are using but my ZZ4 low rise intake with a 600 Edel. carb rubbed slightly in one area. You can check your clearance by putting some playdo on the lid towards the front and right where the carb stud hole is.
