Default L98 firing order

Already searched and looked @ FAQ C4 tech
Dayum rat chewed thru all spark plug wires and a few others.
block cylinder positions seem to be

front
1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8

What is the firing order, and where is #1 on the distributor??

Thanks, Bill

#1 on distributor can be where ever you want it to be; just make the rotor point at the post that you want to be #1, when #1 piston is at TDC, firing.

Here is the standard orientation for #1, though, along w/the firing order...

That is the best advice ever, who cares what post is #1? It's the firing order that matters. Why cant people get that through their heads?Find TDC where ever #1 ends up go from there.

Ummm, don't you need to clip the timing light probe onto the #1 wire to time the engine???

Yep. What's that got to do with where you decide to orient "#1" on the distributor cap?

My new FAST Dual Synch distributor has the crazy two clamp legs on it, so it will not sit on the #1 the way we "think" it should.

My #1 points at the driver seat.

Mine points there also, when I removed the chewed off plug wires, I had to do some investigation on which wire from #1 to the dizzy.
I understand the fact that #1 @ TDC on the compression stroke, the distributor rotor is aimed at #1 on the dizzy.

car smells like rat ****, took it to my shop today.
Going to start feeding the stray cats around here, but that presents another set of problems

Another thing to note is the way they fire. The 4 3 then the 6 5. It Imparitive that those 4 cyl wires do not cross or touch eachother anywhere from the cap all the way to the spark plug.
If u pull it off, She'll purr for-ya real nice.
You'll get a lot better Idle and all the way up through-out the entire rpm range it'll be alot smoother dont care what anyone says and it dont matter how good of wires you have. Thats just something u got to do

I only orient the same way so that it's easy to remember.
