am i too advanced at WOT?
currently i am running a 383 with a 219LPE cam, stock TPI intake, and stock exhaust manifolds. the car runs great as is, driveablity is nice and i have put down a 13.05@110 with street tires
The reason i am a little concerned i am running too advance at WOT is i had to disable the Knock retard because it kept giving me false knock retard (running race gas with 24 Degree timing and was getting knock), i have zeroed out all other tables and i am strictly working with the main Spark advance table. i only included 1600-4800 because i am running a tuned part and do not get much above that
Advance is at 100 KPA (WOT)
RPM DEGREE ADV.
1600 23
1800 23
2000 23
2200 23
2400 24
2800 27
3200 30
3600 30
4400 30
4800 29
Thank you for your help

What heads, and what compression, and how hot are you running the engine? My gut feeling is you are very conservitive on timing, most SBC heads need between 30 degrees to 36 degrees of timing for max power. The faster burn the chamber the less timing. With race gas and proper AFR you should have no issues with knock. Stock head are usually around 36 degrees and AFR 195 are usually around 32 degrees of timing.

i have mildly ported stock 113 heads with 9.8:1 compression, i am running 93 octane i only ran the race gas once when i was troubleshooting the knock issue.
the engine runs no hotter than the stock 350, not sure of the exact temp because of the crappy 90 gauges.
last time at the track (with cool air) i was running about 13.3 - 13.5 to 1 at WOT which might be a little lean.

i disabled the knock retard because i was running race fuel with 24 deg. adv. and i had the AFR about 12:1 and was still seeing knock i knew it had to be false but i could not find it anywhere so i just disabled it, i do not want to get over aggressive with the tune i just want to make sure i am not running too much advance.
thank you
