Default Clutch setup - Will this work?

Background - Converting an '84 that was a POS crossfire with a 700r4 to an LT1 with a Black tag ZF. Car is used for lemons racing so cheap is the name of the game.

LT1 out of a 96 camaro, have all the other swap stuff (driveshaft, pedals, rear end, etc). Need a new clutch so I want to get rid of the dual mass setup. (Noise is not a concern)

Will this work?

Conversion flywheel -

Any other avenue? I saw this as well;

From my understanding, later model ZF's (blue tag) have a different (larger) input shaft, correct? Could I still utilize the '96 Camaro flywheel (cutting it down by 0.090), buy a '92 corvette disk + pressure plate, and HW and go to town?

Thanks!

this is probably the cheapest; might as well start wit a used F body flywheel which, with some shopping, should be close to free, and then only pay for the machining (which you would do anyway, even with a new F body flywheel.

no, the early "Black Tag" have the larger input shaft; if you use a blue tag tranny, make sure the throwout bearing is sized for the blue tag, this is usuall a black tag throw out bearing with a plastic sleeve inserted into it's inner diameter.

Thanks!
good luck and have fun

do you have the flywheel for the LT1?

Get the OEM Fbody flywheel, cut it .090 and you should be a-ok. Use the Vette pressure plate and the fbody friction disk. Get them from a 92 or 93 vette. No need to match balance cause the engine is already balanced to the OEM flywheel.

I suggest a stage 2 clutch if racing... Get a good friction disk... not the cheap organic. It's a Camaro part, there are tons of options. Avoid Ecklers for hard parts like this whenever possible, they will eat you alive on price.

Use Amsoil in the transmission, 10-30 weight. Use ATE or Motul brake fluid in the hydraulics. Also, replace the rear seal on the trans, they leak. It's the same part as a TH400.

NAPA has, in my opinion, the best slave cylinder out there. They don't leak. Period.
