FX3 Struts Needed
I've seen this topic come up before but couldn't locate the right info when I searched for it.
I have a 1989 with the FX3 active ride control. The shocks need replacing and the shop says they are no longer manufactured and want to convert it to a standard setup.
Is my only option to located some used shocks?

I think you can also find it on their web site. If you send 2, you may as well send all 4 because chances are they are ALL the same age. Consider the other 2 on borrowed time.

Called and left a message with Bilstein in North Carolina. Anyone have a better contact?

FYI, Vettes do not use struts. They have shocks. You might think there're the same thing, but they're not.

some of the aftermarket vendors have been selling new or remanufactured versions. try Mid America or Ecklers. Mine have been non-functioning for a few years. The problem is the "pot-metal" sproket on the top of the shock crumbles after a while and the computer can't adjust the shock. I'm going to forge some new ones out of aluminum and see if it fixes the problem better.

Yeah, Bilstein called me back and it's $210ish per shock + shipping. I went ahead and paid Corvette America $370. It's definitely more, but Bilstein can't cross ship so it would add a week and a half to the time in the shop.

FX3 Bilsteins
I bought new Bilsteins for my 1994 ZR-1 which is equipment with the FX3 option this March from http://www.eshocks.com/bil_veh.asp?M...=All&SubChar=Q. You may want to check them out. If you do, make sure you buy the shock mounting kits also as they do not come with the shocks.
