Default New Alternator...Charge wire question

I am installing a new alternator. It is a 140amp Powermaster CS-130 in my 1990 L98.

It said I should use an 8awg minimum wire. My question is what gauge is the stock??

Thanks

I ran a new 0 gauge wire in mine, only cost $10 to make the cable and im noticing my volt gauge nearly a volt higher now.

I think I am going to build a new wire. The 200amp calls for a 4awg wire. I should be safe with that.

If there's no really "hi-amp" requirements in the system there shouldn't be a need for anything greater than the 4 awg - some might think that "over-kill" but it's certainly not a "wallet breaker" cost wise. There's debate as to the strands involved but if the run doesn't require any fancy tight bends I don't believe that needs to be an issue either. Quality termination is important!

8A30-1 - Battery is 8 (metric) which is the same as 8 awg and the sensing is 3 (metric) which is 12 awg.

SO I should be good. I assume the main wire (not the regulator wire) is what you refer to as the battery 8awg wire.

Thanks so much
