spu spu sputtering engine. Ignition questions help please?
Hey guys I believe I need ignition wires for my 1992 Corvette standard? The car has 39,000 miles and the wires are original. That means they are 22 years old. Once in a while the engine sputters and shuts off or misses for a second or two. I realized that it is a much more severe problem when it’s damp or very humid out. I sprayed the ignition wires with wire dryer and it ran great for a while. I’m thinking new wires may fix the problem? Any thoughts about this? Also which wires would be the best option?
PS. What are the correct spark plugs for this year Corvette 1992 LT1?
I have good luck with MSD wires and NGK spark plugs. If the engine runs good after plugs and wires swap I would not mess with the OPTI. If you do replace the Opti buy also buy new GM water pump at the same time. When I replaced my water pump I also installed a hose in the weep hole of water pump . You don't want a used or new water pump leaking on your new OPTI !
Unless you have a $200 gift card from Ecklers I'd go with the standard AC Delco or Delphi plug wires . They're made for the engine, have the correct spark plug connectors and will generally fit better. Just my opinion.
