Default 84 crossfire ECM help (please)

Short story:
Got my vette in a storage unit auction. $870.00
Took it home and found a new motor never fire in it. (to this day it has never been ran)
Previous owner was in the middle of installing a TPI system.
I have all the parts for the crossfire. I want the crossfire back on.
I have no idea what hes done to the motor.
No info on cam, pistons, bore, nothing.
All I know is what you see.

Question is:
Will my ECM make this run right, if the motor is above average.

Any help is appreciated.

You can MAKE it work, no matter what...but it may not work that well, with the stock ECM.

That far down, I would spend the money on a head gasket set and pull one head to see what you've got.

Put a dial indicator on the valves on the other head and you should be able to narrow down what cam is in it.

Looks like they spent some money on the top end.

Those are roller lifters, which are not stock. That means the cam is probably not stock either, as the cam lobe profiles are different for roller lifters vs. the stock flat tappet lifters.

The heads have been worked on. They're too clean not to have been removed from the engine. The roller rockers are also not stock.

The valley looks very clean. I suspect the engine was pulled at one time. I suppose you could get it that clean without pulling it, but I doubt it.

Given all of the above, you might have a 383 in there.

I'm torn what to do with it. I bought it for another father son project. I didnt really want to put a ton of money in it, do to we are restoring a 72 Cammaro SS. It just happen to fall into my hands at an action. I have a complete TPI system that was with it. I just want it running to have a play toy. Sounds like I need to do more tear down and see whats in it?

Question: Could I identify the cam by pulling the time chain cover and gear? Would there be a stamped # on the end of it?

you can degree the cam using a degree wheel and a dial indicator on the pushrod and see how much lift you have.If this guy spent that kind of money in retro roller lifter , RR,new springs you obviuosly have some bigger cam inside that bad boy, only strange thing is RR are 1.5.Usually in a modded engine they 'r 1.6.If you found a TPI set up in the car, probably this guy was upgrading the ECM,may be you already have a 165 inside the dash (passenger side).you can see that runners are ported to match the gasket, even if these are iron heads ther's lot of work considering how hard is iron to port...
