Default Rear wheel bearing info

I just learned something about Wheel Bearings Inc's 513020HD bearings.

These are the tapered heavy duty bearings. The bearing comes with a tag that says to torque the axle nut to 180 ft lbs. I know the original torgue spec was 164 or 167 and upped to 200 at some point.

Unlike the OEM's these bearings have a 2-piece inner part and the axle nut torque actually sets bearing pre-load.

There are a lot of threads about rear wheel bearings here, but I don't remember ever seeing this info.

Thought I would share.

good info. Over torquing them could really do bad things...

I have these rear wheel bearings in my car. In my case my torque wrench didn't go that high, so I made the axle nuts "tight". It's been a couple of years and all OK so far (I did a "wiggle test" recently).
