Default Hurst Line Lock install

Finished up the install today. Works great and am looking forward to running the track again so I can really test it out. Had a problem with solenoid. It leaked and I had to buy a rebuild kit to fix it. An O Ring was bad and was leaking so that held me up for a day. Never had this problem with any other Hurst product before and was a little dissappointed in that the usually great quality was not there. :nonod:

Tony

I have heard of a few people, including myself, that have had issues with the hurst line lock.
Mine was stuck in the "locked" position after I engaged it.

I had to disassemble and clean it.

Tony- Who put together the solenoid for you? Was it zr1 specialties in Chicago? I've been thinking hard about having him do mine. :yesnod:

Both my Hurst Line Locs are faulty. I haven't figured out what's wrong yet, too lazy right now. I think one problem may be my wiring, the other I think is the solenoid.

I haven't tried the Hurst but I had a TCI for years with no problems.

Frank, the wiring is only 2 wires, not much to mess up on.

The solenoid is another story.

I did the rebuild myself. There are 2 O Rings on the sleeve inside of the unit. The one at the bottom of the sleeve was ripped and was in two pieces. It's a fairly easy job to do and the instructions were good. I paid $30 for the Hurst rebuild kit, but I feel if you buy something new it should be that, NEW! I guess I could have sent the unit back but I wanted to wrap up my install this weekend. :smash: :smash:

I was wondering about the line lock and the anti lock system. Any problems there? Is it any diff then an older car install. I have one on my 79 Malibu, and it was installed before the brake bias switch which makes my brake idiot light come on. It goes off about halfway home from the track. Other than that it works great. I want one for my vette, but was worried about the anti locks reaction.
