So--purchase the 94 Alt and just change the connector, everything else bolts up including the brace from the exhaust bolts. These are dependable.

I've never done it personally on an '85 but I've done many changes through the years SI to CS and most were without issue. I'll try to check the clocking like I mention. The brace to the exhaust I'm unsure of but I'll check. An alternator brace/bracket is a simple fabrication in almost every situation. The CS144 is very reliable BUT you need to consider yours is likely coming off of a mass retailers shelf. That's why I mentioned used and look for an OE/GM. The warranty is "lifetime" anyway so it's only installation aggravation.
