I have a burnt out bulb on my drivers side front cornering lamp. Access to the lamp housing seems like it should be a breeze, quite visible with hood up. Click the release, twist the holder counter clockwise and it seems as though it should just lift out...
But, no can do! Or I haven't uttered the magic incantation just yet... Doesn't appear to have enough clearance to lift the holder with bulb in place out of the housing. Before I go nuts and try to remove the housing for bulb access; I figured I would tap into the collective wisdom here...
Thanks Cajun CB. I'm not quite that far yet... At this point there doesn't appear to be clearance enough to pull both socket with bulb in it out of the housing. It might be that some prior owner put in an oversize bulb... Would you know the proper bulb for the cornering lamp?
They will come out. You just have to try all angles. I faced the same problem. After a bunch of cussing and fussing, I found the angle. If I remember right, you have to move the base toward the rear of the car.
Nicely skinned knuckles here. Evidently blood letting is part of the deal you know?
So, there is a bracket that makes the front light box area rigid, angle piece with two screws from front wheel well. Removing those two screws let me raise up that angle piece just enough to lift the bulb holder with bulb out of the housing.
Replaced bulb; put those two screws back in place and the job was done.
If I were going to define a procedure, it would be that exactly, rather than attempt to remove the side marker/corner lamp piece from the body. That has a deeply set bolt that is nearly impossible to get out without removing many other things.
Oh, and make sure to have plenty of new-skin on hand... :-)
