I have a 94 corvette LT1 6 speed with Exotic Muscle Long Tube Headers and man I never noticed how tight the engine bay was until I tried pulling the passenger rear plug. Does anyone have any tricks or tips to make this job quicker and easier to do.
I cut a spark plug socket almost in half and use the part that has the hex on it (threw away the other side after cutting). I fit this cut socket over the spark plug (the spark plug tip will protrude through the hole where the 3/8" drive ratchet wrench used to attach) then I use a 3/4" wrench that fits over the hex to loosen or tighten the offending spark plug. You can also cut down the 3/4" wrench to fit in tight spaces although I am able to get a 3/4" boxed wrench on mine to loosen the plug at the rear with my ARH headers.
Oh yeah you might want to cut up the Harbor Freight stuff not the Craftsman or Snap On tools
Good Luck
Agree with the above. Use a deep socket with a standard wrench on the end.
My EM headers are terrible for accessibility of the plugs and the header bolts, which really makes it difficult. From what I've heard ARH headers are much better as another poster mentioned. Wish those are an option back in the day when I was purchasing!
