there are some adjustment points that can wear out.
so yes, it is possible.
check the rear wheel bearings, rear tie rods. things like that.

Re: Can my rear suspension be shifting (65Z01)
I just had to replace one of the tie rod ends on mine..I had the same problem. I had it replaced...BTW I was told it is the same as the front tie rod ends.
My symptopms were on the power it would seem like something was pushing the back side ways.. i'd let off power it would return back to like where itwas.
I found mine by jacking up the rear of the car... at first I thought it was a wheel bearing like was mentioned above... I put my hands at 9 and 3 o clock positions with the wheel off the ground and I was shocked I had almost a 1/2 inch of movement... ( here i thought it was all tire spin going to the ground :D )
I cost me like 300 bucks for parts repair and realignment...
Hope this helps

Re: Can my rear suspension be shifting (Mo_Bandy)
Check the bushings on the strut-rods and the Dog-bones (T/A's). The strut-rod bushings are the most common wear item on the rear. You also need to shake the Toe-rods and check for looseness. The polygraphite bushings will tighten up the car and free up the static load compared to the rubber bushings. In other words the poly (if installed correctly) will glide smoother on the inner sleeve than the twisting of the rubber. :flag

I always avoid chain stores. I've heard to many horror stories. I talked to a couple of mechanics I knew and asked them where they would take their car for an alignment. They both recommended the same small privately owned shop and said to stay away from the others.

Re: Can my rear suspension be shifting (TimV)
On my daily driver car (a 1994 T-bird SC with IRS) , I noticed the rear of the car acting a little weird in a corner at over 40 mph. I jacked up the rear and grabbed the tire at the top and bottom and whiggled it. It moved more than 1/2 inch, so I replaced the bearing. I checked the other side and that bearing was fine.
On your car, I suggest jacking it up and grabbing and whiggling suspension parts to see if there is any abnormal movements.
